From Vision to Action: Key Outcomes of Pachamama’s June Gathering

June Gathering Group PhotoIn June, Pachamama Alliance hosted a Gathering with 65 leaders representing 5 continents from around the world and a diversity of fields—Indigenous leaders, business executives, philanthropists, scientists, technology innovators, and social movement coalitions.

We explored the question: how do we accelerate a global transformation from a worldview based in human supremacy to one of human responsibility and sacred reciprocity with Earth, each other, and all Life?

The energy and inspiration felt during that gathering were profound, largely due to the inclusion of Indigenous leaders. Their presence and insights about spirit and strategy were critical to the outcomes. Our Indigenous partners had the platform to show other global leaders how the Indigenous worldview is not only mystical—it is a true model for political and economic systems. As an example, the Amazon Sacred Headwaters Initiative showed how Indigenous leadership, guided by the Earth can become a force for reshaping the politics and economy of Ecuador and Peru.

What we are seeing since then is that many of the participants have communicated that the Gathering has had a profound effect on their strategic thinking for their organizations. Several have formed their own collaborations and alliances to carry on this integration, from bioregional economic coalitions to a tech start-up. For them this can become not just a personal experience, but is now an element of strategic planning. Bringing them together created the realization that all of our work could integrate into multinational strategies to create systemic change at a global level.

In essence, this convening process highlights the power of global and Indigenous leaders coming together, seeing sacred reciprocity and Earth listening as fundamental strategies for global transformation. The Pachamama Alliance is continuing to play a critical role in bringing these leaders together, interweaving their ongoing work and advancing this shared vision. We are coordinating an innovative systems mapping process to identify key leverage points for an impactful way forward.

Meanwhile, Pachamama Alliance community members who have been piloting “Earth Listening Circles” have shown that deep listening to Earth and holding her as sacred, is a profound and transformative experience at the grassroots level. We are still in the pilot phase, but it is becoming clear that providing people with tools for Earth listening and sacred reciprocity has incredible potential.

The realizations and insights that continue to flow from the Gathering of leaders that we hosted in June are beginning to shape the future direction of Pachamama Alliance.
