Our Annual Luncheon is one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s biggest nonprofit fundraising events, bringing together over 1,500 people in person and hundreds more online to celebrate our accomplishments in the world and the next era of our work.
This year's luncheon was the best we've ever had! Here's why:
We Unveiled Our New Social Action Pathway, Up to Us
Our all new social action pathway will guide and inspire individuals to change the world. We unveiled this new program to our community for the first time at this year's luncheon and the reaction was incredible!
People were inspired to get into action with our new program and signed up while at the event online and in-person.
Everyone Was Inspired
Being surrounded by thousands of people in-person and online who share the same values of social justice and environmental sustainability filled the room with incredible energy! We were inspired by all the love from our community and we in turn inspired them with our accomplishments and big plans for 2014.
At the end of the event, our long-time friend and donor, Fred Johnson, improvised a call-and-response song with 1,500 inspired individuals. Watch the entire room sing along in the video below!
Indigenous Representatives Uplifted Us with their Passion and Partnership
Representatives of our indigenous partners Manari Ushinga, Narcisa Mashienta, and Jaime Vargas joined us onstage to speak about the continued threat of oil development on their lands and the need to protect their communities and the rainforest. Their stories were incredibly inspiring and they invited everyone to stand with them in solidarity.
We Were the Boldest We've Ever Been
Our new program Up to Us is bold. We're planning to educate and mobilize citizens to tackle our corrupt democracy and end the influence of big money in Washington.
We're also tackling the biggest environmental crisis of our time - climate change. We will give citizens the tools to implement a carbon tax to reveal the true cost of fossil fuels and tip the balance toward renewables.
