All In a Day’s Work: Changing the World, Running a Marathon

July 25, 2011 | By The Pachamama Alliance

As if transforming the world wasn’t a big enough challenge, the staff of The Pachamama Alliance took on the physical challenge of running the San Francisco Marathon this year. 18 staff, volunteers and interns are committed to running the full marathon, half marathon, or 5k on Sunday, July 31st.

Although not every one on staff will be crossing the finish line, the whole office is committed to fundraising and supporting each other. Teams of two were created to provide additional encouragement for the runners. Some of the teams include “Happy Feet” and “Baby in the Oven” (yes, one of the participants is expecting!). With an overall target of $52,500.00, the runners and their supporters have been busy raising money and awareness about The Pachamama Alliance.

The energy in the office is high as race day is fast approaching and the teams keep getting closer to their end goal. As of July 15, the Pachamama staff has raised $21, 321.51 and with a recent Marathon Fundraising Training completed, the staff is ready and re-energized to finish strong.

Visit the Marathon page to see team and individual profiles and support their participation, or come out on July 31st to cheer them on in person.
