Emerging Community in Sweden

Join in the reflection and celebration of the very first ATD Facilitator Training in Sweden! Welcome to the Nordic Light Facilitators!

An inspired and committed group of awake global citizens joined together to share profoundly, open their hearts, engage with the challenges of our time, and celebrate their love and commitment to an environmentally sustainable, socially just and spiritually fulfilling human presence on the planet.

Here is a look back from the arrangers and local coordinators, Niklas & Maria-Conchita Hoegberg, on the days shared at the beautiful venue Skeppsudden (Ship's Peninsula), a few hours south of Stockholm on the Swedish east coast.

Organizing a Community

The intention of the gathering was not only to have a facilitator training, but to lay the ground for the whole work in Sweden as well as empowering the rest of Scandinavia (and Europe) to co-create the future together.

Looking back, we are amazed about the results that have already been generated from these four days. Today there is a community established with strong local teams in the North, East, South, West and Midst regions of Sweden who immediately took on bringing the symposium to their communities. Among the 30 participants were also representatives from Norway, France and Turkey who committed themselves to establish the symposium in these countries.

All of this was made possible thanks to a beautiful European collaboration in the leadership team consisting of trainers and co-trainers from England, Germany, Denmark and ourselves. Through the efforts of this team and the whole-hearted participation of everyone, the training turned into an empowering and transforming inner and outer journey with so many different aspects, like life itself.

Results from the Weekend

  • Started to get to know each other by heart, building bonds to sustain us and our actions.
  • Began going through and getting a grip of the structure and the process of the symposium, which in Sweden has been named "Co-Create the Future" and will be part of the European “Be The Change” Initiative.
  • Experienced the "truth mandala"/medicine wheel where we turned the wounds of yesterday into portals to the future.
  • Looked deeper into both the Eagle and the Condor World, including experiencing the Despacho Fire Ceremony from the Andean Q'ero people.
  • Went even deeper into the healing work of opening our hearts.
  • Looked into resources available to carry out the work, not the least from the Pachamama organization.
  • Named our group Nordic Light(s) (there is an ancient prophecy saying that "the light will come from the North"), and celebrated that and Earth Hour with a beautiful singing circle.
  • Shared dreams and experiences, danced and just enjoyed the feeling of being alive.
  • Co-created the agenda for an action meeting about how to develop and sustain the work in a country, building on the experiences from other countries and the international work.
  • Embraced the learning experience of how to fit "condor" spirit into "eagle" time in the action meeting, with each participant responsible for his or her own issues as well as for the whole.
  • Delivered our issues in the timeframe available or generously gave away time to other issues.
  • Learned a valuable lesson in making conscious choices as a co-leaders instead of leaving it into the hands of some imagined leaders, hoping they will “fix it” for us.
  • Deepened our own ability to "be the change" as co-creators and change agents in these critical years to come.
  • Turned to the Seven Directions and the power of the Circle as we took all the creative energy from the training and released it out into the world.

The birth of Pachamama's work in Sweden was delivered!
