Every April 22 for the last 40 years, individuals and organizations from around the world have been inspired to demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability by uniting to celebrate Earth Day.
This year, individuals and communities from around the world got into action and celebrated Earth Day 2011 in a variety of ways. The day proved to be an opportunity for the Awakening the Dreamer message to be heard around the world.
We were happy to share an update from the following events:
- A 2 hour version of the Symposium was delivered to employees of a Fortune 50 company - a defense contractor no less! It was offered live and streamed to various company sites across the United States
- Symposiums were offered in Hong Kong, China; Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan; Asheville, North Carolina; Mumbai, India; and Brooklyn, New York.
- In San Francisco, The Pachamama Alliance was well represented at the city’s Earth Day Festival with a booth and an opportunity to speak on 3 stages to invite participants to get involved with all aspects of The Pachamama Alliance.
- A dynamic team of Seattle youth facilitators hosted a powerful and inspiring WakeUp in a beautiful movement studio called OmCulture. Fifty members of our community showed up to participate with enthusiasm and passion for change, and the night ended joyfully with dancing, connection, and plans for next steps towards collective action. The Seattle WakeUp community is growing strong, with plans for a week long facilitator training in August, 2011!

We hope that one day, every day is Earth Day, but for now, this special day was an uplifting opportunity to spread the message of bringing forth a sustainable, just and fulfilling future.
