In April, we invited Facilitators to participate in an Earth Day media action, creating and submitting an op-ed to a local paper.

We are excited to announce that four Facilitators had their Earth Day pieces published in local newspapers: Nancy Kasper of Rochester, NY; Kevin Jones of Newark, NJ; Madeline Dalrymple of Laramie, WY; and Ana Toepel of San Rafael, CA. In total, the papers have a weekly readership of about 3.7 million, so these pieces potentially reached large numbers. Congratulations on spreading the message far and wide about creating a better future for our planet! And, congratulations as well to all those who participated for their initiative and commitment to being a voice for positive change in the world.

Facilitators were provided with a training call and a customizable op-ed template drafted by The Pachamama Alliance’s staff writer, Dina Buck. The op-ed shared reflections on local and global climate change impacts and what these impacts might be telling us about what’s needed now from humanity. It expressed both the severity of climate change and the possibility for solutions and citizen involvement, and Facilitators were encouraged to adapt the template by adding their own thoughts and reflections.  Look out for more media actions coming up!
