Unstoppable Panama and Columbia Facilitators Join Forces

Having completed the March 2013 Awakening the Dreamer Facilitator Training in Colombia, Rosa went back to Panama ready to present the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium. Rosa’s last Symposium was held in Kuna territory for the burgeoning wing of the Green Party of Panama.

As an active leader of The Pachamama Alliance Ibero-American Network, Rosa had called on the support of another regional leader, Heidi Pohl (Tierra Corazon) from Colombia to co-facilitate with her.

Once Rosa and Heidi arrived to Isla del Perro they found their shack had been swept away by a storm and that electricity would be available for only half of their Symposium. But they refused to let the blackout stop them. Sponsored by The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, they moved forward and presented the Symposium to 24 leaders ranging in age from 24 to 30. Most were schoolteachers and politically engaged individuals.

The Facilitators and the young audiences were quickly engaged with the content of the Symposium. Although staying away from having debates was challenging for the young politicians, one observed that, “Our hearts opened to the opportunities that the endangered Kuna territory and its people were offering us”.

The Symposium ended with an action plan that includes participants going into Embera Indigenous Territory, an area threatened by deforestation, both to create awareness, and to begin a “plant-a-tree” campaign that engages children in the community whom the participants teach.

Supporting the Collective Dreams of 52 Communities in Mexico

June 2013 marked the beginning of Claudia Brindis’s “52 OASIS Mexico” Project in Toluca, Mexico.

In her years as an Awakening the Dreamer Facilitator, Claudia developed the vision to bring forth the collective dreams of 52 communities in Mexico.

With the support of the Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, and based on a combination of tools from The Awakening the Dreamer Symposium and the Elos Institute’s OASIS Game (Santos, Brazil), the project uses local resources and talents to generate citizen mobilization, cooperation, integration and transformation for the realization of collective dreams.

On the first day, Claudia presented the Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream Symposium, and participants were excited to realize their ability to become agents of change who contribute to the creation of a human presence that is environmentally sustainable, socially just, and spiritually fulfilling.

Reflecting on the training, she stated, “As a facilitator I was pleasantly surprised at the results of joining these two powerful tools to raise awareness and to promote cooperation and transformation. Together and in only 3 days, we mobilized a group of people to create a park, fix a basketball & soccer court, and to restore the kiosk, which is a symbol of the community. All of which was achieved without financial resources, without tools, without a prior idea of what would be the collective dream, and all through adequate preparation and implementation of each of the disciplines of The Oasis Game: Appreciative Gaze, Affection, Dream, Care, Miracle & Celebration and Re-evolution. This is what is possible when together we choose to make our collective dreams a reality. It is with will and heart, perseverance and determination, love and commitment that re-evolution can happen."
