A Goal to Get Going On

Last month’s Change Agent Newsletter launched the goal to have 1 million people participate in the ATD Symposium in the US by the end of 2014.  To reach this goal, together we are creating new ways to spread the Symposium message that a sustainable, fulfilling and just world is possible, and we all have our own role to play. Here is a sneak peak at what is to come in the next few months to support us in reaching this goal.

Options Abound

At the upcoming Pachamama Alliance Annual Luncheon, November 8th. The ATD program team will launch a handful of new formats to expand the ways someone can experience the ATD Symposium including a live webinar, a DVD, and as an online, on-demand experience.  Very soon, you will be able to share this message from anywhere you can get the internet or a TV/VCR. You will even be able to send the ATD Symposium DVD as a gift!

Face-to-Face is Fabulous

These new options, in no way take away from the power, impact and joy of a face-to-face Symposium.  There is a growing demand for more Symposiums (4YG recently sent out an invitation to over 10,000 people inviting them to attend a Symposium near them! See the article below), which means a call for new facilitators as well.

The ATD Program team continues to expand the opportunities to participate in person by supporting ATD Local Community Groups and is now also offering the Symposium in the Pachamama Alliance office every two months and will be offering it monthly the second Saturday or the month starting in the new year.  The team is also offering a “Super Symposium” on Sunday, November 6th in San Francisco in preparation for the luncheon. This will be an unveiling of the new V2.5 Symposium including the live participation of Lynne and Bill Twist, Drew Dellinger and more! A panel discussion will follow the Symposium. Register HERE now to save a spot!

One facilitator, Leo Sonneveld, has invited facilitators in the US, and world wide, to offer an ATD Symposium on 11/11/11 as an act of solidarity and inspiration in spreading the ATD message. The ATD Program team wholeheartedly supports this rally cry to expand the offering of ATD Symposiums. Thanks for the inspiration Leo! Read more about his call to action in the article below.

Pathways to Participate

Whether you have never been to a Symposium or if you lead them, there are awaiting opportunities to participate in and share this empowering work.

  • If you have yet to participate in an ATD Symposium, check the events calendar to find a face-to-face Symposium near you. And stay tuned for the release of these new formats in the next two months.
  • If you have attended a Symposium and would like to be trained to lead or support the delivery of the Symposium, look for a training near you. If there is not one listed near you, you can get started by downloading the Symposium Presenter’s Kit. Or connect with an ATD Community Coordinator near you.
  • If you are a Symposium Facilitator and you would like to be a part of the Revitalization of the Training Leaders Program, email Ruel Walker at ruel@pachamama.org. If you offer a Symposium on 11/11/11 please post it on the event map, take photos and share your stories with us.
  • If you are already an ATD Training Leader, consider offering a facilitator training near you soon.
  • If you are an ATD Community Coordinator, we invite you to rally your ATD local community group and create what is next in light of the new formats and opportunities described above.

With the support of these new ways to experience the ATD Symposium, and with your passionate participation, together, we will reach one million ATD Symposium participants by December 31st, 2014.
