The Pachamama Alliance Recognized as a Mentor of Sustainability

The first annual Immaculate Heart of Mary Mentors of Sustainable Living Award was presented to The Pachamama Alliance. Symposium Facilitator, Judy Leaf, accepted the award at a banquet at the IHM Sisters’ Motherhouse in Monroe, Michigan.

The IHM Mentors of Sustainability Award recognizes individuals and organizations whose lives and mission help to bring forth a sustainable global society.

This award is inspired out of the sisters’ own commitment to walk the talk of sustainable living. They have entirely renovated their 376,000 sq. ft. Motherhouse, turning it into a green design teaching facility! Their extraordinary achievement is a testament to the depth of their commitment to live and act on behalf of future generations, even as their median age tips 86!

Inspired by Awakening the Dreamer

The Pachamama Alliance was nominated for the award by IHM sister, Rose Therese Huelsman, because of the powerful message behind the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium. TPA was selected by a panel of five judges who rated nominations from across the United States, Mexico, Canada and South Africa.

The award itself, presented to Leaf, is a cobalt blue sphere of the Earth made of recycled glass with the continents painstakingly sandblasted out. The award was created by local glassblower Gideon Rockwood from Gibraltar, Michigan.

Pictured is Judy Leaf accepting the IHM Mentors of Sustainability Award after sharing the story of TPA through the video “A Call for Our Time" and giving a 45 min presentation about the great work of TPA and Fundacion Pachamama.

Congratulations to TPA and a big thanks to Rose for the nomination, Judy for accepting it, and all the sisters at IHM for this great honor.
