Region on Fire
When a group of powerful leaders seizes the Awakening the Dreamer educational tools and ideas developed by our team in San Francisco to fuel their work in other parts of the world, then we know these programs are resonating with communities!
Last week 20 such people from 10 Spanish and Portuguese speaking nations gathered to create a vision for the region and detailed plans that will serve the success of their own vision, and our educational programs, in each of their countries.
A Diverse Gathering Sharing a Unified Vision
The setting, a remote hacienda near Bogota, Colombia, was the perfect venue for introspection and personal enquiry, deep and rich conversations, the sharing of visions, hopes and dreams and ultimately the declaration of bold plans of action. The assembled group now has plans to raise and join the citizen voice of the peoples of Ibero-America: Mexico, Panama, Colombia, the Muisca Chibcha nation, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Argentina and Spain; all these united in pursuit of a sustainable, just and thriving future.
Fundación Pachamama was also represented by its President, Belen Paez. The team there has been pioneering the use of the Symposium to awaken and inspire people to take action on the crucial issues that face Ecuador now, stopping the 11th Oil Round and forwarding the Buen Vivir (good living) initiative.
Incorporating Indigenous Wisdom to Help Bring Transformation
Another ground-breaking advance was the presence of Suaga Ingativa, an elder of the Muisca Chibcha people. The team was blessed by his participation, the wise teachings he contributed to the process and by his request that the assembled leaders take this initiative directly to the indigenous people of every country. He declared his commitment to do that with his own people and other indigenous nations in Colombia, Chile and Argentina, providing an important endorsement of our approach and a huge new area for powerful partnership.
The participants left with a whole new ability to bring transformation to their own countries. As Evelyn and Carmen from Venezuela said, “Now we have a project that can unify our people to make change in our country and in the world. ”
From a Pachamama Alliance perspective, this is huge success. Tapping deep into the desire and contribution of leaders like this -- visionary, resourceful and unstoppable -- gives our educational programs a whole new injection of energy. Look out for news from Ibero-America.
