Making the Dream a Reality
World Day of Interconnectedness began with my own waking up about what is going on in our world in terms of environmental crises, social injustice and spiritual / individual disasters. This was the direct result of being involved in a Be the Change program which led to organizing the first Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream Symposium in the Netherlands in December 2006. I woke up to the fact that without addressing the root-cause of these crises, (an insufficient awareness of interconnectedness), a world that works for all life will remain a dream and will not be achieved. I wanted the Symposium to be a celebration of our interconnectedness and let people experience on a global scale what the difference is between living from a sense of interconnectedness rather than from separation. All of this resulted in a crazy plan to have a worldwide celebration on September 9th, 2009 to feed this shift from I-llness to WE-llness.
09/09/09 A Great Success!
September 9th, 2009 was an unforgettable celebration. We connected with symposium facilitators and participants here in the Netherlands as well as in Ecuador, Ghana, Germany, UK and US. I was filled with gratitude and it was a peak experience in my life. On 9/9/09 there were 48 different events with participants in 84 countries!
We continued with this amazing celebration on 10/10/10, being bigger and better with more well known contributors. Now for 11-11-11 we aim to have an even larger number of countries where the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium will be held.
What's to Come on 11/11/11
Nanke Lavrijsen and I will again offer a 3 hour version of the Symposium in the Netherlands. Let us consider 11-11-11 as a Symposium rallying date and jointly offer at least one symposium in every country where we have trained facilitators. There may even be an opportunity to offer this in co-operation with Brahma Kumaris, World Spiritual University located in 110 countries. This may solve usual challenges like getting sufficient participants and a pro bono venue.
Get Involved
Please register your Symposium on the Symposium Manager HERE and also inform me of the details of your Symposium, preferably with a link to a dedicated event page leo@interconnectednessfoundation.org so they can be published at http://www.interconnectedness111111.org/ActivitiesEvents.htm as inspiration to all.
I look forward to the unity we will share as we offer the Symposium in our communities as we stand for interconnection and a sustainable, fulfilling and just human presence on the planet.
