While the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium is touching people all over the world, it is particularly inspiring young people and those whose calling is to support young people in this continued awakening. Here are a few samples of some of the extraordinary youth symposium work coming out of the Awakening the Dreamer community.
Instilling the New Dream with Students in Ontario, Canada
Satya Robinson, and Kathryn MacDuffee presented a two-hour concentrated Symposium to high school students, teachers and parents. They also presented a forty-minute Awakening presentation to 4 classes of public elementary school 5th graders.
Awakening the Dreamer by Bike! Massachusetts U.S.
Jay O’Hara and 19 college students part of Masspowershift, are riding across Massachusetts to build a movement for bold and immediate emissions reductions, canvassing door to door. Having been trained as Facilitators, these college students invite folks to attend Awakening the Dreamer Symposiums they present in the towns they visit. Between the 3 teams, over 25 symposiums are expected during their 8-week summer trek.
Bus The Change: An Awakening The Dreamer Living School
Colorado, U.S. After a Symposium and joining the first youth training, Angela Romany had a vision of creating a school on wheels, and Bus The Change was born. The 2010 cross-country tour will have the Symposium at its core curriculum, and include training in nonviolent communication, permaculture, co-creative living, storytelling and arts.
UIC – Chinese University
UIC University, the fourth largest in China, focuses on ‘whole person’ education. Twenty professors and students trained to be Facilitators last month by Jon Symes and are incorporating Symposium principles into campus curriculum and vision.
Merging Campus Culture with Awakening the Dreamer: Edmonds, Washington
Victor Bremson, created a successful 200-person Symposium at Edmunds Junior College with faculty, staff and students, with particular emphasis on getting into action around deepening campus culture and bringing sustainability to the school and the larger community. He co-founded For the Grandchildren, using the Symposium as an effective tool to implement the organization’s intergenerational activation vision.
BioTU: Sustainability Education & Awareness Projects: Mexico
BioTU is beginning to mobilize, energize, and activate the Mexican population, with the Symposium at its core, around sustainability. Fernando Ausin and a growing team have deeply awakened students, citizens, agency and business leaders with the Symposium. His vision came from a year-long tour across the States visiting schools and campus’ on a Bio Bus mobile class room.
Creative Youth Became Hummingbird Community, New Mexico
Last month a multi-generational team of 11 dedicated facilitators nourished, co-created and energized the hearts and souls of 22 participants (aging from 17 to 32) at the first ever “Awakening the Dreamer Youth Facilitator Training ”. They have returned to their communities across the U.S. and Ireland to awaken, engage and active their neighbors. For more info, contact Shana Parker.
Eco Warriors Go Deeper, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Matthias Gelber organized the dynamic Malaysian Eco Warriors via Facebook and 200 people responded to his Symposium invitation last month. A group of 60 inter-generational people attended the Symposium Facilitator Training the next day.
Awakening the Dreamer Youth Symposiums, UK

Awakening the Dreamer Revitalizes a Teacher’s Calling and Creates a Youth Symposium: Portland, OR & Seattle, WA
The tightly woven partnership between Awakening the Dreamer and the Heritage Institute began to flourish in May and April, when Mike Seymour introduced two Awakening the Dreamer Symposiums to teachers and students within the Institute via a workshop: Be the Change. Mike created one of the first specialized Youth versions of the Symposium with a team of facilitators, which included Shana Parker, Jody Bol, Julia Weaver, Sand Smethurst, Adam Rogers, and Jane Simmons.
