A Vision of Possibility

The global Pachamama Alliance community connected with Reverend Deborah Johnson (Rev D)—the Founding Minister and President of Inner Light Ministries and a Pachamama Alliance Board Member—on a conference call on May 3, 2017, to explore interconnectedness in activism.

Rev D spoke about the importance of embodying oneness to create the change we seek in the world. She referenced the Pachamama Alliance origin story and other historical examples to convey that oppression can only be overcome with the support of the oppressors, and that it is important to transcend the myth of separation in order to include people we perceive to be the opposition.

She presented this tumultuous moment in time as an opportunity to move out of denial around many problems in society because “you can’t heal what you don’t feel.” Feeling the pain is an important first step that ultimately needs to translate into something beyond resistance and protest. “Pain pushes until vision pulls,” she said, and called on everyone to offer a vision of possibility that inspires others, and ourselves.
