A Beautiful Ripple Effect: How a Region is Turning Commitment into Action

We often hear about the challenges of moving oneself from inspiration into concrete action for the benefit of all life. This is certainly not the case, however, for the Ibero-American Facilitators who continue to dazzle us with the spectacular amount of activity occurring in the region.

Two months have passed since the Pachamama Alliance Staff, supported by our partners from Tierra Corazon, visited Colombia on a two-fold mission: to extend the existing network of Facilitators by hosting a Facilitator Training, and to underpin the creation of a Regional Network of support to generate sustained action.

A Tour de Force of Leaders and Participants

Thirty seven new Facilitators were trained in the first event and another 20 Regional Leaders participated in the Leadership Event. As the latter group expressed it, in order to have a north-star, they needed a vision, which they articulated after two brainstorming sessions by stating, "We are leaders committed to global citizenship. Our enormous role is to support the exchange of knowledge and experience amongst all peoples. We see ourselves as apprentices, and we connect indigenous nations and diverse communities. We call on citizens to become part of our global-changing initiative."

Creating a Regional Network of Leaders has helped turn commitment into action. Regional Leaders are hard at work hosting events themselves, coaching facilitators around their events and visions, identifying and creating local initiatives to support, and holding the greater vision for the entire region.

In just two months, 25 symposiums have been presented in 6 different countries including Panama, where the symposium was presented for the very first time.

Rosa Beltran, Panama's Country Leader, commented, "The symposium became a magical space in which a group of people shared common experiences and emotions that lead to a shared commitment, which has created new opportunities and concrete steps for further action ... It's something magical that slowly grows as people join us along the way. I feel grateful to be part of this movement."

Enthusiasm Rippling Outward

Over 250 participants have experienced the symposium in the last 2 months, and a great percentage of them are keen to become facilitators and spread the message in their own countries. A Facilitator Training in Panama is already in the works, and more events are scheduled to happen in the coming weeks.

Cheers to all regional leaders and facilitators, and to sustained action that leads to an environmentally sustainable, socially just, and spiritually fulfilling human presence in the region!
