Annual Luncheon Surpasses Past Successes

November 30, 2010 | By The Pachamama Alliance

On November 17, nearly 1,500 people gathered at Fort Mason in San Francisco for The Pachamama Alliance’s Annual Fundraising Luncheon. This transformative, heart-opening event celebrated the 15th anniversary of our first connection with the Achuar people and shared the breathtaking accomplishments of our work over the past year. More than 1,000 individuals generously made a donation in support of Pachamama’s vital mission, and more people joined as Stewardship Circle members and monthly-contributing Global Citizens than ever before, making this the most successful Luncheon to date!

This year, The Pachamama Alliance's global community participated in the Luncheon from the comfort of their homes and offices. Pachapeople all over the world, from 33 different countries including Ecuador, Germany, Turkey, Japan and Australia, gathered online to watch the event streamed live. Guests from every single time-zone engaged with us online, held dynamic virtual discussions throughout the Luncheon, and partnered with The Pachamama Alliance through significant donations.

We were joined by Pachamama co-founders Lynne and Bill Twist and John Perkins, who shared the deep history of The Pachamama Alliance, and the current work we are involved in to bring forth a human presence that is environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just. Also speaking this year was Pachamama program staff and volunteers from Ecuador and San Francisco, including Narcissa Mashienta, a Shuar woman from the Jungle Mamas community health program in Ecuador, Jon Symes, Awakening the Dreamer Program Director, Vivian Dittmar,a volunteer working on spreading the Awakening the Dreamer message in Germany, and Joshua Gorman, leader of the Generation Waking Up youth initiative.

If you were not able to watch the live streaming, you can still visit our special Luncheon webpage to replay the event in its entirety or watch the highlights in short video clips. If you were not able to make a contribution that day, please click here to help further this work.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this Luncheon so phenomenal! Hundreds of volunteers, table captains, and sponsors donated their time and resources, and the event would not have been such a success without their incredible generosity.
