We’re honored to announce a seed grant by Kalliopeia Foundation to support a collaboration between The Pachamama Alliance and Bioneers.

Called “Awaken → Learn → Connect → Act,” the project will leverage the closely aligned work of both organizations.

Making the Best Tools for Transformation Available

Informally, Pachamama and Bioneers have already been jointly inspiring thousands of people. Pachamama Co-founders Lynne and Bill Twist have both been featured speakers at the Bioneers Conference for about 10 years. In 2011, the Bioneers conference hosted a “Campaign Connection” session on the 4YG campaign that had people hanging off the rafters and ready to take a stand.

The Pachamama Alliance and Bioneers communities know that innovative tools are needed to take on the challenges facing the human family now. By joining forces, we can pool our media resources and transformational tools to best support our communities in bringing forth the world we all know is possible.

As the “Awaken → Learn → Connect → Act” project gets underway, you can expect an expertly curated set of media tools drawn from the Bioneers and Pachamama archives, including:

  • the Bioneers Media Catalog
  • Beaming Bioneers conferences
  • Various Bioneers networks and media sites
  • The Awakening the Dreamer Symposium
  • Generation Waking Up’s WakeUp
  • Getting Into Action workshops

We’re excited to see how these cutting-edge resources re-energize and connect our existing communities, and invite new audiences to join us.

Bioneers: Revolution from the Heart of Nature

Bioneers Founder Kenny Ausubel coined the word “bioneers” in 1990 to describe an emerging culture of social and scientific innovators who are applying Nature's principles—kinship, cooperation, diversity, symbiosis and cycles of continuous creation absent of waste—as metaphoric guideposts for organizing an equitable, compassionate and democratic society.

As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, Bioneers provides a forum and social hub for education about solutions presented through the Bioneers Conference and their other programs.

Bioneers content reaches millions of people around the nation and the world through an award-winning radio series, Bioneers: Revolution From the Heart of Nature; anthology book series; television programs; DVDs, CDs, and other educational materials; and their interactive website.

The Next Step in a Long-Standing Relationship

This new collaboration has been at least two years in the making, ever since Pachamama Alliance Co-founder Lynne Twist and Bioneers Founder Kenny Ausubel got to talking and realized that the work of both organizations is deeply aligned in vision, values, and strategy.

There’s been a connection between Bioneers and The Pachamama Alliance since before our founding. In 1991, John Perkins first spoke at the Bioneers conference, then in its second year, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

John, now best known as the author of Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, put out his first public call inviting others to journey with him to the Amazon to meet with the Shuar and Achuar peoples with whom he had been studying.

Among those who took one of the early Amazon journeys were Lynne and Bill Twist, and of course the rest is history.

This Is Just the Beginning…

“We’ve long had the utmost respect and admiration for the exceptional work and vision of The Pachamama Alliance,” says Bioneers Founder Kenny Ausubel.

“At this epochal moment, it’s essential to create partnerships with a close alignment of vision and mission where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Bioneers is truly honored and excited to begin to create a dynamic synergy with The Pachamama Alliance. Magic will result.”
