Hi - Ben here with a quick update from the Program Department, which includes the communications, education, training and engagement teams, all working on the Awakening the Dreamer program and other initiatives. We are on fire and focused here in the San Francisco office.

We’re thrilled to share with you the premier of the new model for a ‘Global Citizenship’ pathway (working title and awaiting branding). We are still in the process of refining this model with volunteer community leaders in the US and around the world. For more details about the pathway, you can listen to a recording of our last monthly community call, hosted by me on March 28th, along with Pachamama Founders, Lynne and Bill Twist.

As you can see, the proposed pathway includes:

  • A Conversation Series: We are super excited about the new monthly Conversation Series focused on these amazing times, referred to by many as ‘The Great Turning’. Each call will feature a with leading global thought and social change leaders who will open an interactive conversation about what it means to become a global citizen from their perspective. The series launches next month on May 21st. Look for emails and specific information the third week of April.
  • Global Citizen 101: Is a new program for people that will become the next step after the Symposium. Tracy Apple is leading the design of this multi-module online course, which will deepen and expand on the key insights and perspectives offered in the Symposium, as well as provide participants an opportunity  to connect with one another in virtual and geographical communities.
  • Action Circles: Are about taking action as a local community, whether it’s focusing on game changing initiatives, delivering the Symposium, or learning together.
  • Community Hubs: Are regular community meetings where leaders from different regions or areas can come together to organize, take action, learn from one another or just be in community.
  • Game Changing Initiatives: A group of leaders from the community and Bill Twist have identified the first three game changers for creating systemic change – Climate (via carbon dividend), Democracy (via constitutional amendment for corporate personhood as well as municipal rule making and local governance) and Mass Incarceration (still in development). Partnerships with movements that are ready to accept and mobilize volunteers are being put in place now. These will launch in May.
  • In-person or ‘Big Tent’ Events: A chance for Pacha-folks across regions to be and work together in community, build relationships and take part in social justice trainings, democracy trainings and more.

We will be ‘beta-testing’ pieces of the pathway between May and October this year, with a public launch in the fourth quarter of this year. This model is a culmination of our collective dedication to develop thoughtful design and test new ideas. We're looking forward to hearing your thoughts, ideas and participation as we enter this new phase of civic engagement.

The movement to generate a critical mass of conscious commitment and action to a thriving, just and sustainable world continues.
