The Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Sisters presented the first annual IHM Mentors of Sustainability Award to The Pachamama Alliance at an award banquet held in Monroe, Michigan on May 5th.

Awakening the Dreamer Symposium Facilitator Judy Leaf, representing The Pachamama Alliance, accepted the award created from recycled glass by local glassblower Gideon Rockwood from Gibraltar, Michigan.

The Award recognizes individuals and organizations whose lives and mission bring forth a sustainable global society, and reflects the Sisters’ own commitment to sustainability and justice. They have entirely renovated their 376,000 sq. ft. Motherhouse, turning it into a green design teaching facility. This extraordinary achievement testifies to the depth of their commitment to live and act on behalf of future generations, even as their median age tips 86!

IHM Sister Rose Therese Huelsman nominated The Pachamama Alliance because of the powerful message behind the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium. A panel of five judges, rating nominations from across the United States, Mexico, Canada and South Africa, selected The Pachamama Alliance.

Judy gave a presentation about the great work of The Pachamama Alliance and Fundación Pachamama, including the video “A Call for Our Time.”

Congratulations to The Pachamama Alliance and a big thanks to Rose for the nomination, Judy for accepting it, and all the sisters at IHM for this great honor.
