On July 31st, The Pachamama Alliance is running the San Francisco Marathon. To be more exact, 18 staff, board members, interns, and volunteers will be running under the Pachamama Alliance banner.
Each runner has committed to raising $2,500 towards the marathon, and non-runners have committed to raising an additional $1,000. We’ve formed teams with funny names and are having a blast while getting fit.
So far, we have raised nearly $15,000, and our intention is to raise over $50,000.
Sponsorship Opportunities Available
Businesses that want to support Pachamama’s marathon run can become a corporate sponsor. Each staff member will get a printed t-shirt with the business names of these sponsors, which will also be acknowledged on our website and in the New Moon newsletter.

Health, Camaraderie, and Focus
Many of the runners have been training for weeks, and are already up to running more than 20 miles. The marathon is part of a larger initiative that focuses on the health and well being of Pachamama Alliance staff, using the tool of the marathon to further health, camaraderie and focus.
The Development team is also using the marathon as an opportunity to train the staff in our fundraising model: a deeply personal conversation about reallocating your resources from activities and things that are causing the destruction of the earth towards actions that will create the world you want to see.
