Gathering in the countryside of Zarnesti, Romania
Since it was founded in 2011, the Pachamama Alliance Community in Romania has shared educational, transformational programs with thousands of Romanians. And this year, in collaboration with the Pachamama Alliance team in San Francisco, they gathered in a Community event to envision and plan a successful 2019.
Pachamama Alliance Community Retreat
Community members gathered for two days in the countryside of Zarnesti, Romania and explored an alternative way of leading in the world, one that empowers every individual in the team, and in the Community.
Throughout their time together, Community members also reviewed and refined their plans for the main areas of their work: Advancing Rights of Nature, in Romania; The Rosia Montana Marathon–an event that raises awareness about the sacred nature of the mountains in the area; and the expansion of educational transformational programs: Awakening the Dreamer and the Pachamama Alliance Drawdown Initiative.
Awakening the Dreamer Trainings
Eager to expand the message of possibility of a new future to many more in Romania, the team held trainings to equip more people in realizing this vision.
Awakening the Dreamer and Introduction to Drawdown
The team presented the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium and the Pachamama Alliance Drawdown Initiative to students of the School of Geology at Bucharest University. As the event started, students recognized the sense of resignation they walked into the room with, and left uplifted and hopeful about the dreams they each are inspired to pursue to create a just and fulfilling world.

Pachamama Romania Inspires New Community in Serbia
Pachamama Alliance Communities are inspiring people locally and also globally. In 2017, Pachamama Romania organized events that inspired the creation of a new Pachamama Alliance Community in Serbia.
Lidjia Mitrojecic, motivated by her attendance to the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium at Spiru Haret University in 2017, recently started Pachamama Serbia. The focus of this Community is three-fold: to re-ignite the sense of tribe in the rural areas of Serbia; to organize and educate people to protect the Stara Planina nature reserve where a number of rivers at at risk due to power plant developments; and to bring transformational programs to local elementary schools.
